Diaverum, the Swedish-born, global renal care provider, today announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver out-of-hospital haemodialysis services in the province of Córdoba. This important milestone marks the latest step in the company's strategic expansion and reaffirms its commitment to delivering world-class, patient-centred renal care across Spain.

Under the new contract, Diaverum will serve more than 360 patients in Córdoba whose reference hospital is the Reina Sofía University Hospital. To provide these services, it will build four new dialysis clinics, with construction already underway. All four centres are expected to be operational by January 2026. The new clinics will feature state-of-the-art equipment and have been designed to meet the highest standards of functionality, safety, and quality.

Córdoba, located in southern Spain, is a historic city and province known for its rich cultural heritage. It forms part of Andalusia, Spain’s most populous autonomous community. With this new contract, Diaverum expands its presence to 14 centres across six Andalusian provinces - making it the largest provider of renal care in the region and one of the leading providers nationally.

At national level, this development increases Diaverum's footprint to 51 clinics across Spain, serving over 4,800 patients through a team of 1,300 healthcare professionals. This sustained growth underscores its commitment to innovation and the continuous improvement of care for people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

CKD affects around 15% of Spain’s adult population. As demand rises, Spain’s public healthcare system partners with expert providers - including Diaverum -  through multi-year tenders to deliver life-enhancing renal care. These partnerships ensure equitable access to care while promoting innovation and sustainability.

Diaverum’s proprietary Care Delivery Model will enable standardised, patient-centred treatment and real-time clinical oversight to be applied across the new clinics.  In addition, patients will also benefit from Diaverum Spain’s national Patient Care Coordination (PCC) programme, which promotes continuity of care and multidisciplinary collaboration - further enhancing outcomes for those living with CKD.

Rafael Romanini, CEO of Diaverum, said of the news: "This new partnership exemplifies the best of what public-private collaboration can achieve — bringing together our clinical expertise, digital capabilities and True care culture to support the Spanish health system in delivering world-class renal care. It is an honour to contribute to improving the lives of even more patients in Andalusia, and to do so in close partnership with the local health authorities."

José María Ordóñez, Country Manager of Diaverum Spain, added: "This development not only reinforces our leadership in Spain's renal care sector but also reflects our vision for sustainable, patient-centred growth. It is a testament to our continued commitment to supporting public healthcare systems and ensuring high-quality care to all the patients across the regions we operate."

Dr Shaira Martínez, Medical Director of Diaverum Spain, concluded: "The launch of these four clinics will allow us to implement a comprehensive care delivery model rooted in clinical excellence, technological innovation, and compassionate support - enhancing our patients’ physical, emotional, and social well-being throughout their treatment journey."
